Mary’s Faith

December 25, 2011

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her. Luke 1:38

Mary spoke these words after the angel Gabriel revealed God’s plan to her. She was told that she will give birth to a child. We read in Luke 1:35 where the angel tells her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. (NIV)” This is a pretty tall order for a young lady, however, she trusts in God and looks straight ahead to His will and guidance.

I think that some of us shy aware from God’s will for fear that He may ask us to do something that we really do not want to do. However, it was Mary’s faith that led her to be all that God wanted her to be. I am sure that like any of us, she struggled at times with the task set before her, but she persevered through God’s strength. We must also put all of our faith and trust in God and seek His will and guidance with all that we have. And know that whatever He asks us to do, He will give us all that we need to complete the task to His glory.
