WHOSE SLAVE ARE YOU?

September 24, 2011

We’re all slaves! We are either slaves to sin or slaves to righteousness. What will being a slave to sin give us? Nothing! Sin steals the very best God has for us. Sin blinds us to make us think this is the way it is. Righteousness on the other hand helps us to rise above the level of mediocrity… to THRIVE!

Sin is easy that’s why we don’t see it as being a slave, however when we try to do what is right then we see how much of a slave we actually are to sin. Jesus set us free! Now we can say no to sin. Why? Why couldn’t we say “no” before Jesus? Because through Jesus we receive the Holy Spirit Who is a seal guaranteeing us eternal life, Who also helps us in our weakness. He convicts us and gives us the strength, desire and the wisdom to do what is right. All so YOU can THRIVE!!!

But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:17-18, 20-23 (NIV)
