No Bad Fingers

April 25, 2011

If you ever wanted to start a fad, how would you do it? Maybe you’d wear your clothes a certain way; color your hair or use a certain colored clothing to state what you believe or what you identify with? When you think about it that’s exactly what we see, just look around. Everybody wants to start a revolution, do something different, have people follow them… follow what THEY started. Hollywood and marketers of huge corporations do that from another angle. Anything from clothing to shoes to jewelry to sunglasses are strategically used to promote a product so viewers would want to buy it. They want to start fads. That’s what marketing is all about. Gangs are famous for that as well. Nowadays you can’t wear certain colored clothes in certain areas or you’ll be gunned down. Why? How foolish to think that a color was made just for their gang; that anyone else wearing that color deserves to die. Sounds ludicrous but yet we willingly submit to their rules and not wear colors.

Well, the same goes for the love sign. I’m talking about the hand gesture of the thumb, index and pinky fingers sticking up, that’s a symbol for “I love you”. But yet it’s also seen as a satanic gesture because it’s used at rock concerts or occult worship practices. Well of course you would see it at that locations as well because the words “I Love You” are quite universal no matter if you’re talking to your husband, wife, children, God, your dog, your favorite band, athlete or Satan himself. So holding up a hand gesture of I love you at a rock concert or an occult worship service is nothing more than expressing their love for that thing. It does not make the “I love you” gesture satanic. It still means I love you. If I’m wrong does that mean if I use that symbol I’m worshipping Satan? Far from it! God created those fingers for me to use and man, as usual, twists everything God creates to make it seem evil. Come on people, can we be a little more open minded than that? If that’s the case, then all fans of the Texas Longhorns are Satan worshippers when they hold up their horned hand gesture of the index finger and their pinky. Not to mention, never scratch your nose with your middle finger… try it; you’ll see what I mean. I always laugh when I hear people call the middle finger the “bad” finger. It’s not bad, if it was bad we should just cut it off. It’s how we use it that might make it bad, but it’s not a bad finger.

Before I end, I want you to try this exercise… make your hand into a fist. Stick your thumb, pointer finger and pinky out. Okay, tell me, do you love Satan? Of course not! Even though (as some would say) your hand gesture just expressed that. Now close your hand into a fist and stick out your middle finger. Hmmm…

Remember this, none of your fingers are “bad” it’s what’s in your heart that matters.

Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. Matthew 12:33-35

As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man. Proverbs27:19

He has RISEN. ALIVE!

April 22, 2011

Happy Easter weekend to all! Let’s remember the CRAZY LOVE the Savior had for us up on the cross. Yes, it’s Friday, but Sunday is a comin’! We rejoice in knowing how the story goes. Remember, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Rom 5:8

We serve a God that that was crucified and resurrected – He’s Alive! The same God that rose from the dead, longs to have a personal relationship with His creation – you and me. Seasons in life and life experiences can either draw us near to God, or drive us away. The fact remains, that God loves us, God loves you! Unconditionally. Always and forever. He longs for us to draw near to Him, He will in return draw near to us. He doesn’t force Himself on anyone. He awaits for us to come to Him. He is there waiting with open arms.

What a gift! God’s love is never ending. I hope this Easter season, you choose to draw near to Christ.

Bread of Life

April 8, 2011

“I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35

There’s a hunger… a “thirst” inside every one of us that can’t be filled by things. We think if I get more money, stuff or new relationship then I’ll be satisfied. It never satisfies! It always …keeps us longing for more. Take Jesus up on His offer. Test Him and see if what He says is true.
